Grown for bharta and for anything roasted whole: the round types have thinner skin and softer flesh than the long ones, and char down to a smoke-scented pulp that the purple longs never quite match. Wants a large pot, full sun and consistent feeding. Watch for shoot borer and pick affected tips off early rather than spraying.
