Capsicum takes its time — slower to germinate, slower to fruit, and less tolerant of heat than its chilli cousin. Give it the brightest spot you have, a pot of at least ten litres, and shelter from the worst afternoon sun in summer. Fruit left to colour up is sweeter by a wide margin than the green it is usually sold at.
