Peas fix nitrogen at the root, so the pot they finish in is richer than the one they started in — follow them with a leaf crop and you will see it. They need cool weather from start to finish; sown late they flower into the heat and set almost nothing. Give them netting or twigs to climb from the moment the tendrils appear.
