Radish is quick and almost automatic, with two failure modes worth knowing. Compacted or stony soil forks the root, so use a deep container of loose mix; and irregular watering makes it woody and fiercely hot instead of crisp. Thin early to a finger-width apart — crowded radishes make leaf and no root.
